Resignation… That one word that signifies so much in one’s life.. Is it the word? The Action? The Document?

While it is one of the most seducing and tempting things a person could do, yet it is one of the most mind draining and can leave a person restless for days and perhaps weeks.. Nowadays this word hovers over the mind of people so many times, for one too many reasons…

The act of resigning is the act of leaving one company and telling them thank you and it’s time to move on but that is not a simple thank you.. Questions arise, why would the person leave? Is it just a new and better opportunity?  Or is it some other mysterious force behind the drive? Would someone literally jump out of the window with a resignation without having a backup plan? Should a person do so?

Again the reasons are countless but here are some of why does a person consider resigning..

A Better opportunity:

That’s the most obvious one of course and the easiest one, when an opportunity knocks your door that is way better to you, in terms of career, in terms of pay or in terms of both!

The sort of move you simply cannot say no to, and probably should not. This is the good form of resignation and usually ends in good terms with all parties.

But nowadays we face a lot of challenges, the economy hasn’t been doing so well globally and companies are growing bigger wanting more and more profit taking more out of people’s lives one minute at a time which drives them to frustration, stress, depression and more.. Which eventually takes it’s toll on a person and it is then that the genie of resignation begins to materialize in front of the person giving the easy ticket out, all they have to do is sign the dotted lines.. And just say the magic word.

Couldn’t be any simpler! Right? WRONG…

Because this genie appears and while it does offer you a way out, it will leave you out in the cold.. It will leave you with no backup plan and will usually play your emotions of frustration, depression and feeling undermined.. In the market of today people are being pushed to their limits in so many aspects and it’s no longer a question of are they good or no, do they achieve or no.. You will come across people who are frustrated and treated in not the best of ways despite being achievers and over achievers.

Companies will find various reasons to find you at fault, even if you get your numbers or follow the process.. But the question is why? Every one of us needs their job, yet everyone reaches more frequently today than any other time, the will to leave, or feel they’re left out or the will to change.

While it is difficult to maintain a fair judgement if you yourself a unjustly treated, but it is important to try to understand how things work.

So you resign today, no backup plan! What happens, you are practically affecting both your financial status but also future career. Staying at home for a period of time without a valid reason, makes other companies view you as irresponsible and someone who cracks under pressure.

The decision is always difficult, even if it will affect only you, it needs a lot of thinking and patience..

This is something that comes with learning, learning to control your feelings, and not let them be controlled by your anger.

It crosses the mind of almost everyone a 1000 times where they imagine, storming into their manager’s office slamming their resignation on the desk and just leaving.. While it sounds ma very interesting and entertaining idea but it is just not the right thing.

Resignation without a backup plan is like playing Russian roulette with your own head.. Be smart, don’t let the anger beat you.. Make the best out of it!
