Yasmen’s Ragab interview with Jobzella

23 Feb. witnessed the second day of Alexa’s Job Fair. As an attendee who is not really interested in finding a job, it was quite an experience. There were dozens of hundreds of appliers who were trying to find a decent job that fit both their expectations and qualifications. There were lots of undergrads, too eager to find trainings and trails in order to make them more attached to the market. The problem I personally witnessed as a representative of HR Revolution Middle East’s booth is that we generally lack appreciation to any kind of the voluntary work. In my opinion, we should look beyond the material benefits and start considering the experience and the social network you will be dealing with. Voluntary work is appreciated all over the world; as it shows how reliable and into work the person is. But we faced a lot of obstacles to convince the Job Fair attendees with our ideology.

Yasmen’s Ragab interview with Microsoft

On one hand, we asked the representatives of Microsoft booth and he said that it was very effective and it was quite better than the previous one as the CVs they got were various and more accurate. Jobzella’s representative told us that with them things are different as they recruit people for other various companies so they do not demand certain qualifications. Nevertheless, he believes that the ordinary CVs they receive are getting out-of-date as any small change, for instance, a mobile number or an email makes the CV expired. As a result they believe that it is more effective to apply on their website and make an online CV which is more accessible for both the recruiter and the applicant or the candidate for the job. He added that the applicants lack some accuracy and this affects their CVs negatively as the recruiters have dozens of CVs on the website and they seek almost 100% sufficiency as they have the opportunity to choose.

All in all, the Job Fair was a win-win situation for those who were smart enough to make the best out of it. Our humble advice for all the candidates is that you should be more accurate and smart with every word you write. Expect no mercy in the field of market as the HRians in most companies are not literature professors who will appreciate your struggle but rather they will appreciate your courses and concrete qualifications.
