Companies often have their own set of policies when it comes to recruiting employees or assigning them to certain tasks. Similarly, some industries have their own rules in this regard. However, some companies may have their own independent policies even within the same industry, which differentiates them from others.

To elaborate, some companies require a specific set of certificates and qualifications during the recruiting and assigning process, while others in the same industry do not ask for any certificates or any qualifications from the applicants for the same exact post.

Moreover, some applicants may have a certificate in accounting, but the company asks them to join in marketing position and might accept them in a position that is different from their field of study. Other companies move their personnel between departments regardless of their certificates and qualifications. This is done instead of recruiting fresh candidates.

What I would like to point out here is that each company and each industry has its own HR policy. Companies within the same industry ought to have the same or at least similar HR policies.

The current variation in such policies is due to the lack of knowledge of modern HR practices; they are more or less “old-fashioned and outdated HR”.

There is also an obvious lack of knowledge in some HR departments, which are old-fashioned in thinking anyone can fit anywhere. These ancient policies are decades old and certainly incompatible with modern-day job requirements.

Note to my friends working in HR: Don’t take it personally 😀
